What is the best weight/leader/hook setup for fishing with dead shrimp for reds and black drum?
please help. going fishing tomorrow
I use 6/20 Power Pro Braid with a leader of either 14 or 17LB Fluorocarbon leader.
A simple egg-sinker rig or sinker-slide rig/bank sinker with a 1/0-2/0 circle hook is what I’d throw.
Reds can get big but Black Drum can be downright “feisty” when they get over 10-12Lb’s.
By the way, the Blacks will love your Dead Shrimp but the Reds won’t. Best to have some live Mud-minnows, Shrimp, or Finger Mullet for the Reds, (or some Berkley Saltwater Gulp Pogy’s or Jerk-shads rigged with a 1/4-1/2 OZ Jig).
