Kia Increases Fuel Economy in the 2010 Rio
The Kia Rio has quickly become a favorite choice among consumers looking for a brand new car at used car prices, and the improved 2010 Kia Rio 1.6 Liter V4 engine has made the purchase even more advantageous. While the basic components of the engine are the same as that in the 2009 Kia Rio, a significant difference is fuel economy that has been increased now is able to compare with the performance of other subcompact vehicles. The motor produces 110 horsepower and delivers 107 pound feet of torque.
While the lack of 2010 Kia Rio Engine Options may deter some buyers, a strong advantage of the 1.6 Liter V4 engine is the gas mileage. In highway conditions a driver can expect to achieve 30-33 mpg and during city use the estimated fuel economy is still about 27mpg.
Many consumers worry that because one of the 2010 Kia Rio Engine Options is not a higher-powered motor, that acceleration will suffer. An important note to consider is the fact that the vehicle is extremely light weight. The automatic transmission paired with the 1.6 Liter Inline 4 Cylinder engine delivers a 0 to 60 time in just over 11 seconds, but the acceleration can be improved by selecting the optional manual five speed transmission. Although the engine may become somewhat noisy when the RPM’s are high, most drivers are impressed with the amount of pick up that the subcompact has.
With the exception of the better fuel economy, all of the other 2010 Kia Rio Engine Options and power train choices will stay the same as the 2009 model. Cruise control is still not available as an option, but the rest of the benefits of the vehicle outweigh this minor inconvenience. Several body styles are available including a wagon version, but all share the same motor.
